The statement of Benjamin Franklin says it all :

‘The sovereignty of the Crown, I understand. The sovereignty of the British legislature outside of Britain I do not understand.

And what was the attitude of the fifty-six people from thirteen colonies who signed the declaration of Independence and created a country that went on to become a beacon of hope to people all over the world, and the industrial powerhouse of the global economy?

‘In the event of Great Britain attempting to force unjust laws upon us by the strength of arms, our cause we leave to the heavens and our rifles.’
